Introducing the team

David Ault
I have lived in Ripon for five years and have been one of the Museums Trust's volunteer ghost walk leaders for almost the same amount of time. When I'm not tutoring the sciences and maths, I'm a voice actor and audiobook narrator.
Whilst I've have never seen a ghost, I maintain a very open mind, with the scientific method that my degrees have helped to foster. There are more things in Heaven and Earth, after all.

I was born and raised in Suffolk, England, UK, but have lived in various places including Scotland and the USA. I lived in NZ for over 13 years. I moved back to the UK in 2019 and am based in Ripon, North Yorkshire.
I’m a scientist with a PhD in Plant Pathology specialising in virology, diagnostics and biosecurity.
I was part of two teams in NZ and was a founder member of Haunted New Zealand
I’ve always been fascinated with the unexplained and my scientific nature has led me to always query whether there is more to life than what we can currently perceive with our limited senses and understanding. To me it isn’t a question of, ‘Could something exist beyond our comprehension?’ it’s more a question of, ‘What exists beyond our comprehension and can we connect with that.

I have lived in Ripon since 1977, with a brief stay in Edinburgh from 1998 to 2002. I have been fascinated with other people's experience of the paranormal after being told a family ghost story by my mother and grandmother at age 7. This led to a love of ghost books. I’ve had a couple of experiences that are unexplainable and would like to unearth more evidence around the paranormal tales from Ripon and the local area. Top of Form
